Ladybugs are considered good luck. And are very symbolic to families adopting from China.
September 9th, 2005 a ladybug landed on my hand as I was leaving work. This was around the time the social worker was finishing up our homestudy report.
September 13th, 2005 we found a ladybug crawling on the mail when we took it out of the mailbox - our file was sent to the ministry soon after.
February 8th, 2006 Tracey found a ladybug crawling in Rory's Diaper box...she put the ladybug on the fireplace mantle and later found Rory in the dining room playing with it!...maybe today is the day she will be born!...Ladybugs in February??
February 14th, 2006 (An email I received from Joan Murray) - On Valentines Day I was on my computer in my spare room. My computer faces the window and the curtains were drawn. I thought I saw something on the curtain. Imagine my surprise when I looked closer and it was a ladybug crawling up the curtain.Seeing this in the middle of winter and especially on Valentine's Day certainly must add to the chain of good luck. I'm thinking the child who will be lucky enough to be your child has been born on Valentine's. (Close Joan 14 days later...Feb 28/05)
April 23rd, 2006 My mom's friend Darlene Ross, gave me a big stuffed ladybug that she thought would cheer me up after my surgery (Ahh..thanks Dar!) This is at the same time that we are trying to get the province to add special needs children to our file. They have been very discouraging and uncooperative. Today, the social worker was supposed to be coming and after the struggle we had been having with them...I was ready for our meeting! The phone rang and I said "that better not be the social working calling to cancel!" Sure enough...it was...but it was good news!...She was calling to tell us that she was not coming....but only because they had discussed our case and felt that we were fully capable of raising a child with SN and that she was going ahead to write up the changes to our file!....I guess the bigger the lady bug...the bigger the luck!
May 11th, 2006 The province has had our approval letter in their hands for a week now and it still had not been signed and sent to our agency. I have been calling every second day asking "did you do it yet?" On my lunch hour today, I called and asked again...and she said "it's signed and going in the mail Monday!" I was really excited and emailed Daniel at work. He replied to my email immediately as he wanted to tell me that a lady bug had landed on his hand when he was walking to lunch!
May 30th, 2006 (an email to my mom from cousin Tanya) - I read up on Nat and Daniel's web page.....brought tears of joy to my eyes. I'm sooooo very "HAPPY" for them.Funny thing to ...after reading it I too saw "2" beautiful little "lady bugs" that day.(GOD-works in magical ways). Let them know we have them in our thoughts everyday, wishing them all happiness and
beautiful memories to come.
