How in the heck do you eat rice with chopsticks!! Daniel and I cooked a lovely meal for supper. Basmati rice, string beans and blackened cajun tuna steaks. We wanted to practice our chopstick techniques. The bigger pieces of fish and veggies - no problem, but I got fed up and grabbed a fork at the end of it...my rice was getting cold!! All I could get on the chopsticks were a couple of grains of rice at a time...I don't get it. So, if I don't bring a fork...I WILL starve!
Day 117 of our wait to TA...and no news. I have heard of some other people getting theirs today, so I am hoping we hear something sooner than later. Hopefully it won't drag out all week. I am very nervous, and we are going to be a total emotional wreck this week. Our string of bad luck has got to be over, right?

You're too funny Nat! Bring/Try and elastic around them (hide it w/your hands lol), I seen it on a movie and it worked for them!! Hoping you get your letter tomorrow!!

Hi Natalie --
You'll be handling those chopsticks like a pro in no time. By the way, the rice is nice and sticky, and there is almost always a spoon around if you get really hungry, but then again you'll have a beautiful little helper on your knee to add to the fun!
I'm sure your letter is nearby! Hope it arrives in your hand tomorrow!
Linda
Lots of TA prayers going your way...keep us posted.
xo
Glad you decided to pack a fork! I'm pretty sure I would! I do like the elastic idea.
Hope you get your TA in the next day or so.
Hugs
You take a fork with youheheheh I know I will be hehehe
Sending lots of luck your way for your TA.
HOW did you add music to your site?
Yup I'm right with you. I will be taking a bag of plastic forks!!
Love the tunes!! Hope for your TA today....I'm saying a little prayer for you!!
nat..rice is eaten with a spoon..i tried eating it with chop sticks when i got to korea, but someone kindly showed me it isn't necessary..spoons for rice and soup, chops for everything else. most restaurants have forks in the back of the restaurant if you're really having a hard time..just ask for one. body language will take you far, i tell you.
so, that said, i'm sure you won't starve in china!

..you can also push your food onto your spoon and eat it like that..don't forget hand sanitizing gel..u will need it as a lot of the restrooms have a communal bar of soap (if any) and cold water..
my advice for travelling that far(and with air canada i presume) with stopovers is to take as little luggage as possible. you certainly don't want to be worrying about missing pieces of luggage. things that you cannot live a few days without should be kept in your carry-on(in case luggage gets lost) air canada is fairly generous with carry on lugguge on international flights. I've carried on two bags before. keep the clothes practical and to a minimum..i.e a sweater for beijing that you can wear with everything. jeans don't get/feel so dirty so quickly(so nothing light colored) think comfort, comfort !! oh, and i always wrap my creams and anything else 'liquidy' in plastic ..they tend to leak while flying.
happy packing!! YEAHHHHH. YOU ARE PACKING!!!
fingers crossed for TA,
angele
